Cut And Dried
Maria had some questions she didn’t dare to speak.
Her father had the answers that he said she should believe.
Though it just made her feel guilty, she still wondered deep inside
Why the answers always seemed so cut and dried.
All her friends knew how to party and pretend there’s nothing wrong.
They said laugh when you feel lonely, and get high when you’re not strong.
But Maria was a good girl, though she often wondered why
When the benefits all seem so cut and dried.
CHORUS:
Living isn’t easy
In a world as hard as stone.
So when you take your chance with honesty,
Do you have to walk alone?
And why do some days feel so bad,
No matter how you try?
And why does some faith feel
So cut and dried?
Maria found some answers from an athiest at school
He said questions aren’t the problem, if you’re looking for the truth.
But she found looking isn’t easy when there’s no one on your side
And the answers always seem so cut and dried.
CHORUS
Maria hit the bottom in the spring of senior year.
She gave up on all her questions and drank to hide the tears.
But she couldn’t ever dry them ’til the morning that she died.
The funeral just seemed so cut and dried.
CHORUS
