The Glory Of The Field
On the prairies where the fields grow tall
With grain and grass for grazing
There’s an ocean made by windy skies
And wheat forever waving.
You can stand and watch the breakers come
Horizon to horizon.
I’m waiting, watching for a home
That I never have laid eyes on.
Chorus:
For there is glory far beyond the open sky.
And there is beauty that will never pass away.
And though the glory of the field dies
Beneath cold winter weather,
The word of God will last forever.
In any land a man can live
In glory or in sorrow
Like the grass he grows to bake his bread
Or the flower that fades tomorrow.
So I raise my eyes beyond these fields
And the breeze that brushes through them
To the One who’s breath comes like the wind
And gives his goodness to them.
